On 4/20/24 at approximately 2022 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Big Lake observed a Polaris UTV driving on Hollywood Road and multiple equipment violations were noted. Troopers stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, 71-year-old Karl Burns of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Karl was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Troopers arrested Karl and transported him to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was remanded.

On 4/21/24 AST responded to a disturbance in Wasilla. Following the investigation Robert Scarborough, age 50 of Wasilla, was arrested and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial for DV related Assault in the forth degree.

On 04/20/2024, at approximately 2024 hours, AST received a theft report from the Three Bears grocery store. Through investigation, Edward Atwater, age 38 of Wasilla, was arrested for committing the crimes of Criminal Trespass in the 1st degree and Theft in the 4th Degree. Edward was transported to Palmer Pretial, remanded, and held on bail with conditions.

On 04/21/2024 at approximately 1338 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the Parks Highway and Pittman Road after observing a Dodge flatbed traveling approximately 85 MPH in a posted 55 MPH zone and stopping in the intersection on a red light. Investigation revealed the driver, Cody Smith aged 34 of Wasilla was operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcoholic beverages. Smith was remanded to Matsu Pretrial on the charge of DUI and held on $500 cash appearance bail.

On 04/21/2024, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a 16 year old who ran away from home. Troopers were able to locate the minor and safely reunite them with the parents.

On 04/21/24, AST and EMS responded to an assisted care facility in Fairbanks for a report of an unresponsive male. Investigation revealed 90-year-old Ethan Jones passed away in his room. There were no signs of foul play and a funeral home responded for Jone’s remains. Next of kin was advised of Jone’s passing.

On April 21, 2024 at approximately 2006 hours, Fairbanks AST conducted a traffic stop on two bicyclists traveling in the wrong lane of travel on Van Horn Road. One of the cyclists was identified as Carlton Towne III who had an outstanding bench warrant for two felonies: theft in the second degree and burglary in the second degree.
Carleton was arrested and remanded to FCC without incident.
